Overview

RNA, U7 small nuclear 66 pseudogene (RNU7-66P) is a human pseudogene corresponding to the U7 small nuclear RNA. It does not produce a functional RNA molecule or protein, and there is no evidence it participates in known biological processes or disease pathways[1][7]. The functional U7 small nuclear RNA (U7 snRNA), in contrast, is an essential component of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex and is vital for the 3' end processing of replication-dependent histone pre-mRNAs[4][5]. RNU7-66P, like other pseudogenes of U7 snRNA, contains sequence similarities but is not functional and is not considered a therapeutic target. RNU7-66P is a genomic pseudogene. It has no known function, disease association, or role as a drug target. This entry may be misleading if used as a therapeutic target, as only the functional U7 SN RNA (RNU7-1) participates in biological processes[1][4][7]. If you need information on the functional U7 small nuclear RNA (RNU7-1), please specify, as it is distinct from the pseudogene.
