RNA, U7 small nuclear 99 pseudogene (RNU7-99P) is a **pseudogene** that shares sequence similarity to the functional U7 small nuclear RNA gene but is itself non-functional and does not produce a functional snRNA transcript or protein. The canonical U7 small nuclear RNA (U7 snRNA) plays a critical role in the 3' end processing of histone pre-mRNAs as a component of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex, but pseudogenes such as RNU7-99P typically lack this capacity and are generally not directly involved in any known biological pathway, cellular function, or disease process[1][10]. While some pseudogenes can act in gene regulation through non-coding RNA mediated mechanisms, there is no evidence suggesting a regulatory or clinically relevant function for RNU7-99P specifically.
