RBMY2UP (RNA binding motif protein, Y-linked, family 2, member U pseudogene) is a non-protein-coding genetic locus on the human Y chromosome, classified as a pseudogene of the RBMY family[1][3][4]. Unlike its parental gene RBMY, whose protein is critical for testis-specific functions and spermatogenesis[5], RBMY2UP does not encode a functional protein and its biological significance in humans is largely unknown. Pseudogenes such as RBMY2UP may be transcribed and could theoretically participate in post-transcriptional regulation (e.g., through competitive binding with microRNAs), but RBMY2UP itself has not been functionally characterized as exerting significant biological effects[2].
