Overview

RNF157 antisense RNA 1 (RNF157-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located at chromosome 17q25.1 that does not code for a protein[5]. It is overexpressed in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and promotes cancer cell proliferation, invasion, and migration, mainly by binding chromatin-modifying proteins such as HMGA1 and EZH2[2]. Through these interactions, RNF157-AS1 represses expression of tumor suppressor genes (such as DIRAS3 and ULK1), thereby blocking autophagy and contributing to chemoresistance and cancer progression[2]. RNF157-AS1 acts predominantly in the nucleus and participates in epigenetic regulation, affecting transcriptional networks relevant to cancer biology[2][4]. There is currently no evidence that RNF157-AS1 is a direct drug target or interacts with approved drugs or targeted therapies.
