In clinical medicine, the G4 genotype is recognized as one of the most prevalent strains causing severe diarrhea and gastroenteritis in infants worldwide (CDC). Consequently, VP7 G4 is a key antigenic component in multivalent vaccines such as RotaTeq, which are designed to provide broad protection against common rotavirus serotypes (FDA).
