The rubella virus antigen (live attenuated) is a weakened form of the rubella virus used in vaccines to stimulate an immune response without causing disease. It is commonly administered as part of combination vaccines like MMR or MMRV. The live attenuated virus infects host cells transiently, presenting native viral antigens to the immune system and inducing long-lasting immunity, similar to natural infection. Key structural proteins include E1, E2 (both glycoproteins), and C (capsid protein).
