Mechanism of action

Huangqin operates through a multi-target mechanism where its bioactive flavonoids, such as baicalin and baicalein, inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and 12/15-lipoxygenase, suppress the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways to reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-α, IL-6), and modulate the GABA-A receptor to exert neuroprotective and anxiolytic effects [1, 2, 4, 11].
