Serine protease 45, pseudogene (PRSS45P)

Target
PRSS45P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, proteinase pseudogene, serine protease family (predicted)
01

Overview

Serine protease 45, pseudogene (PRSS45P) is a predicted pseudogene in humans, also previously named "serine protease 45". While annotated as part of the serine protease gene family, PRSS45P is not believed to encode a functional protein product. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to functional genes but are generally nonfunctional due to mutations or the absence of regulatory elements. PRSS45P is thus not considered a therapeutic target and has no known role in human biology or disease. Any associations with serine-type endopeptidase activity are hypothetical and based on sequence homology, not experimental evidence.
