SERPINA15P (serpin family A member 15, pseudogene) is a non-coding DNA segment structurally related to the serpin family A, specifically functionally similar genes within this serpin clade, but with accumulated mutations that preclude protein expression. Pseudogenes such as SERPINA15P are evolutionary remnants of functional genes, and while they sometimes retain sequence similarity, they do not mediate active biological functions or serve as direct drug targets.
