Signaling Lymphocytic Activation Molecule (SLAM) Family Receptors (SLAMFs)

Target
SLAMFs
Molecular classification
Receptor, Immunoglobulin superfamily, Type I transmembrane glycoprotein
01

Overview

The Signaling Lymphocytic Activation Molecule (SLAM) family receptors (SLAMFs) are a group of nine type I transmembrane glycoproteins belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. They play critical roles in immune cell signaling, development, and function, regulating various aspects of immune responses including cytotoxicity, humoral immunity, cell adhesion, and cytokine production. Their function is largely controlled by interaction with intracellular adaptor proteins from the SAP family, leading to either activating or inhibitory signaling pathways. Due to their central role in immunity, SLAMFs are attractive therapeutic targets for modulating immune responses in autoimmunity or cancer.
