SLC9A3-OT1 is a long non-coding RNA gene overlapping the 3′ untranslated region of the protein-coding SLC9A3 gene. While SLC9A3 encodes a membrane sodium/hydrogen exchanger, SLC9A3-OT1 does not code for a protein but is implicated in post-transcriptional regulatory processes. Overexpression of SLC9A3-OT1 has been reported to play an oncogenic role in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where higher levels are associated with poorer patient prognosis. The gene is primarily identified by genomic databases such as Ensembl and NCBI, and often investigated in transcriptome studies relating to cancer, particularly via its involvement in alternative polyadenylation and regulation of gene expression[2][4][6].
