Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide B'' pseudogene (null)

Target
null
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Long non-coding RNA (if transcribed)
01

Overview

The small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide B'' pseudogene (ENSG00000219487) is a DNA sequence with high similarity to the functional gene encoding small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide B'' but is generally incapable of producing a functional protein product[5][2]. Pseudogenes like this are typically considered "genomic relics" and may occasionally be transcribed as long non-coding RNAs[5][1]. While most pseudogenes are nonfunctional, recent evidence suggests some can play regulatory roles in disease—such as modulating microRNA availability or acting as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) in cancer[1][8]. However, this pseudogene is not considered a drug target, receptor, or enzyme, and there are no known clinical uses or recognized aliases in major gene databases.

Mechanism of action

null

03

Biological functions

May regulate gene expression via non-coding RNA mechanisms (as a ceRNA or "miRNA sponge"), if transcribed
04

Disease associations

Potential indirect roles in cancer via dysregulation of gene expression, but not established as a primary driver or therapeutic target
