Squalene-based Oil-in-Water Emulsion (MF59) (MF59)

Target
MF59
Molecular classification
Adjuvant, Emulsion
01

Overview

MF59 is a squalene-based oil-in-water emulsion adjuvant widely used in human vaccines, particularly for influenza. It enhances both the magnitude and quality of immune responses to co-administered antigens by inducing chemokines and inflammatory cytokines, promoting danger signal release, and stimulating the differentiation of Mo-DCs. It is considered safe and well-tolerated in humans and enhances protective immunity against viral strains.
