Overview

SRGAP3 antisense RNA 4 (SRGAP3-AS4) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the SRGAP3 gene[3]. Like other antisense RNAs, it likely participates in regulating gene expression, potentially through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, chromatin remodeling, or direct RNA-RNA interaction[4]. While SRGAP3 protein is known to have brain-specific functions and roles in cytoskeletal signaling and neurodevelopment[1], there is little experimentally validated information regarding the specific roles or biological significance of SRGAP3-AS4. The broader lncRNA and antisense RNA family have been increasingly recognized for their regulatory capacity, with involvement in processes such as epigenetic silencing, X-chromosome inactivation, and possibly tumorigenesis and drug resistance, but direct functions for SRGAP3-AS4 are currently unknown[4]. Key points: - SRGAP3-AS4 is a non-protein coding, antisense long non-coding RNA. - It is transcribed opposite to the SRGAP3 gene and may have roles in modulation of gene expression. - It is not established as a receptor, enzyme, or direct therapeutic target. - There are no known drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns specifically associated with SRGAP3-AS4. - The scientific literature provides substantially more data on antisense RNA biology generally than for this specific transcript[3][4].
