Overview

SRY-box transcription factor 2 (Sox2) is a critical transcription factor involved in the maintenance of self-renewal and pluripotency in embryonic stem cells and is frequently overexpressed in various malignancies, including lung, breast, and brain cancers. In the context of oncology, Sox2-derived peptide antigens are short amino acid sequences from the Sox2 protein that are processed and presented by Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) molecules on the cell surface. These peptides serve as targets for the immune system, specifically for CD8+ cytotoxic T cells and CD4+ helper T cells, making them valuable candidates for cancer immunotherapy. Therapeutic strategies targeting these antigens include peptide-based vaccines and T-cell receptor (TCR) engineered T-cell therapies designed to elicit a robust anti-tumor immune response.
