SSX8P (SSX family member 8, pseudogene) is a non-protein-coding genomic locus classified within the SSX gene family on the X chromosome. SSX8P is predicted to be involved in transcriptional regulation based on sequence similarity, but it is not known to produce a functional protein and is not expressed in cancer or normal tissues at the protein level[1][2]. Unlike other SSX family members (such as SSX1, SSX2, SSX4), which function as cancer-testis antigens and are involved in oncogenic fusion events, SSX8P does not have established function, oncogenic involvement, or biomarker status. Its designation as a pseudogene indicates lack of protein-coding capacity and no current validity as a therapeutic, diagnostic, or research target.
