The "succinate-CoA ligase, ADP-forming, beta subunit pseudogene" is a nonfunctional copy of the protein-coding gene SUCLA2, which encodes the beta subunit of the mitochondrial succinate-CoA ligase enzyme involved in ATP synthesis within the tricarboxylic acid cycle. This pseudogene does not produce a functional protein and is not implicated in normal cellular processes or human disease. By contrast, the functional gene SUCLA2 is essential for energy metabolism in catabolic tissues, and its mutation is related to mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome, but the pseudogene itself lacks clinical relevance[1][3][5][6].
