Succinate dehydrogenase [ubiquinone] flavoprotein subunit, mitochondrial (SDHA)

Target
SDHA
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Flavoprotein, Mitochondrial protein
01

Overview

The succinate dehydrogenase [ubiquinone] flavoprotein subunit (SDHA) is a key component of the succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) complex (Complex II) located in the mitochondrial inner membrane. SDHA catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate in the citric acid cycle, transferring electrons to ubiquinone and linking the citric acid cycle with the electron transport chain. SDHA contains a covalently bound FAD cofactor essential for catalytic function. Mutations or dysfunction of SDHA is linked with metabolic disorders and cancer.
