Overview

ST13P6 is a human pseudogene officially named "Suppression of tumorigenicity 13 (colon carcinoma) (Hsp70 interacting protein) pseudogene 6". It is also referenced as FAM10A6 or FAM10A6P[2][5][8][9][10]. As a pseudogene, it does not code for a functional protein and is not known to have established biological functions, disease associations, or roles as a therapeutic target. Pseudogenes typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition but are considered nonfunctional remnants, and there is no evidence that ST13P6 is actively transcribed or translates into a functional product[3][5][8][9]. The related functional gene is ST13, which encodes a protein involved in chaperone-mediated protein folding, but this does not apply to the pseudogene ST13P6[7][10].
