Suppression of tumorigenicity 13 (Hsp70 interacting protein) pseudogene 7 (ST13P7)

ST13, Hsp70 interacting protein pseudogene 7 (ST13P7), also referred to as FAM10A7P, is classified as a pseudogene and is not thought to encode a functional protein product[3][7]. It is related by sequence to the functional ST13 gene, which encodes Hsp70 interacting protein (HIP), a co-chaperone involved in protein folding and regulation with potential roles in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases[4][5]; however, ST13P7 itself does not produce a functional protein and has no established direct biological or disease relevance. Thus, ST13P7 is not a therapeutic target, nor does it play a validated role in human physiology or pathology as a gene product[2][3][7].
