Synovial sarcoma, X breakpoint 7 (SSX7) is a member of a highly homologous family of SSX proteins located on the X chromosome[4][5]. These proteins may function as transcriptional repressors and are capable of eliciting immune responses in cancer patients, classifying them as cancer/testis antigens[5]. SSX7 itself has not been directly associated with the classic t(X;18) translocation of synovial sarcoma (in contrast to SSX1 and SSX2)[2][5]. The biological functions of SSX7, like other SSX proteins, may involve modulation of gene expression via protein–protein interactions rather than DNA binding[2][5]. While SSX family proteins are of interest in cancer immunotherapy, SSX7 specifically has not been reported as a validated therapeutic target or biomarker at present[5].
