Overview

T cell receptor alpha joining 61 (TRAJ61) is a gene segment within the human T cell receptor alpha locus. It encodes a joining (J) region used in DNA recombination to generate the diversity of the alpha chain of T cell receptors. TRAJ61 is annotated as non-functional, meaning it does not encode a functional J segment and does not contribute to mature T cell receptor proteins. T cell receptors are fundamental components of the adaptive immune response, recognizing antigen-derived peptides presented by MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells. However, as a non-functional J-region segment, TRAJ61 has no direct role in receptor function or therapeutic applications. Key point: TRAJ61 is a non-functional gene segment within the T cell receptor gene cluster, not a standalone drug target or functional receptor.
