T cell receptor beta variable 7-5 (pseudogene) (TRBV7-5)

TRBV7-5
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, T cell receptor gene segment, Immunoglobulin superfamily

Overview

T cell receptor beta variable 7-5 (TRBV7-5) is a pseudogene segment of the T cell receptor (TCR) beta chain variable region locus in humans[3][5]. It is designated as a pseudogene, which means it does not produce a functional protein product and does not directly form part of the antigen-binding region of the T cell receptor. The variable (V) segments, including TRBV7-5 and its paralogs, contribute to the diversity of TCRs through somatic recombination during T cell development, though non-functional segments like TRBV7-5 do not yield functional receptors. TRBV gene polymorphisms, generally, have been linked to immune functions and may modify susceptibility to autoimmune diseases or immune-related adverse events during cancer immunotherapy[6]. TRBV7-5 is not a therapeutic drug target, but its genetic status can serve as a biomarker for immunogenetic profiling[3][5][6].
