T cell receptor gamma variable 7 (TRGV7) is classified as a pseudogene in humans and is located at chromosome 7p14. It is part of the T cell receptor gamma (TRG) gene family, which encodes the variable region of the gamma chain in the γδ T cell receptor; however, TRGV7 itself does not produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes like TRGV7 arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and carry sequence similarity to protein-coding genes but contain mutations or structural changes preventing translation into a functional protein. As such, TRGV7 has no established biological function, disease association, or therapeutic relevance and is not a druggable target. It may be referenced in immunogenetics studies and antibody diversity analyses, but it does not contribute to T cell receptor-mediated antigen recognition or signaling.
