T-cell receptor gamma variable region A (pseudogene), abbreviated TRGVA or V5P, is one of several human TRGV gene segments that make up the T cell receptor gamma (TRG) locus. TRGVA is annotated as a pseudogene, meaning it does not encode a functional protein and is not expressed as part of the T cell receptor complex[3]. Functional TRGV segments contribute to the repertoire of antigen recognition by gamma delta (γδ) T cells, which play distinctive roles in the immune system, but pseudogenes like TRGVA are nonfunctional sequences that typically arise from gene duplication or mutation events and do not contribute directly to T cell receptor formation or function[3]. Thus, TRGVA is not considered a therapeutic target, and there is no evidence it plays a role in disease, interacts with drugs, or serves as a biomarker.
