The human TRG locus contains variable (V), joining (J), and constant (C) gene segments involved in encoding the TCR gamma chain. Some gene segments, such as TRGVB, lack the ability to produce a functional transcript or protein, and thus are classified as pseudogenes. While the functional TRG gene segments contribute to immune diversity and antigen recognition as part of the γδ T-cell receptor complex, pseudogenes like TRGVB do not participate directly in these processes. No known pharmacological agents, clinical biomarkers, or disease associations exist for TRGVB. The designation is non-standard, potentially confusing, and not recognized as a therapeutic target or biomarker in immunology or medicine.
