TESC-AS1
Molecular classification

01

Overview

TESC antisense RNA 1 (TESC-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome 12 and belongs to the antisense RNA class[1][5]. Like other antisense lncRNAs, TESC-AS1 is thought to regulate the expression of neighboring or related genes via RNA-RNA or RNA-chromatin interactions[2][3]. Antisense RNAs overall play significant roles in gene expression control, either by repressing or activating transcription, often through epigenetic regulatory mechanisms. While many antisense lncRNAs are increasingly recognized as important for normal cell regulation and disease processes such as cancer, TESC-AS1 itself does not currently have a well-established direct disease association or therapeutic targeting, and no drugs specifically act on this molecule[1][5][2][3].

Biological functions

Regulation of gene expression (through epigenetic mechanisms, transcriptional interference, or RNA–RNA interactions)Potential roles in chromatin modification and possibly gene silencing/activation by acting in cis or trans

Disease associations

Other (no direct disease linkage found for TESC-AS1 specifically, but some antisense lncRNAs are implicated in cancer and epigenetic regulation in other contexts)
