Target intelligence / Profile preview
TTTY3B (testis expressed transcript, Y-linked 3B) is a long intergenic non-protein coding RNA (lincRNA) gene located on the Y chromosome and is expressed predominantly in testis tissue. It is a member of the family of testis-specific lncRNAs found on the Y chromosome, which collectively are thought to be important for male germ cell biology, but the function of TTTY3B itself has not been experimentally characterized. Unlike protein-coding genes, lncRNAs such as TTTY3B may contribute to the regulation of gene expression at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level, but detailed mechanisms and physiological roles for this transcript remain undefined in published research. Its biological functions are not well characterized; as a lincRNA, it may participate in gene regulation, but specific functions for TTTY3B are currently unknown in the literature. There is currently no clear, direct association with specific diseases for TTTY3B; much of the disease-focused literature refers to related lncRNAs on the Y chromosome, but not specifically to TTTY3B. Key references explicitly supporting these facts are from Monarch Initiative[2], PharmGKB[4], and SNEP[6].
