Testis expressed transcript, Y-linked 4C (TTTY4C)

Target
TTTY4C
Molecular classification
Other (long non-coding RNA, lncRNA)
01

Overview

TTTY4C is a member of a small family of Y-linked, testis-specific long non-coding RNAs with three copies located on the Y chromosome. The most telomeric copy is found within the P1 palindrome region. It is highly expressed in testis, as indicated by transcriptome studies, and may play a role in the regulation of spermatogenesis or other aspects of testicular biology, but its precise biological function has not been characterized. TTTY4C does not code for a protein, and its involvement in disease or therapeutic strategies is currently unsubstantiated in the literature.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable, as there are no drugs or therapeutic interventions targeting this molecule

03

Biological functions

Not clearly defined; presumed involvement in testis-specific gene expression or regulation based on its localization and high expression in testicular tissueNo direct function established
04

Disease associations

None known; there are currently no established links to disease, including cancer, infertility, or other pathologies
05

Safety considerations

None reported; as TTTY4C is not a therapeutic target, no safety concerns or therapeutic challenges are relevant
06

Interacting drugs

None reported; there are no drugs identified that target TTTY4C
07

Biomarkers

None known; TTTY4C is not currently used as a biomarker for disease or therapy selection
