Testis-specific protein Y-linked 17, pseudogene (TSPY17P) is a member of the TSPY gene family located on the Y chromosome. TSPY17P is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it does not encode a functional protein product. While the functional gene TSPY1 produces a protein involved in spermatogenesis and is implicated in male-specific diseases such as gonadoblastoma and cancer, TSPY17P itself has no known protein product or biological function, and no published evidence supports its role as a drug, antigen, or receptor target[3][4]. The TSPY gene family includes multiple related genes and pseudogenes clustered in tandem on the Y chromosome, but only one (TSPY1) is well characterized for its biological and pathological roles in humans. Studies frequently refer to TSPY1 or TSPY generically, not TSPY17P. There are no established clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic uses for TSPY17P.
