Overview

Testis specific protein Y-linked 25, pseudogene (TSPY25P) is a member of a large tandem array of testis-specific Y-chromosome genes and pseudogenes in humans. The functional genes in this family encode proteins involved in spermatogenesis and have been linked as cancer-testis antigens—potentially accelerating tumor progression when abnormally expressed in somatic tissues, notably in hepatocellular carcinoma and gonadoblastoma[1][3]. However, TSPY25P is a non-coding pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein; it has no direct biological function nor disease association. While its location and sequence may be referenced in genetic studies, it is not considered a therapeutic target or a source of protein-based biological activity. The functional paralog TSPY1 is the best-characterized member of this family, whereas TSPY25P lacks experimental evidence for protein expression or clinical relevance[3].
