Target intelligence / Profile preview
Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-β) is a multifunctional cytokine involved in a wide range of cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, and immune regulation. It plays a critical role in fibrogenesis by stimulating fibroblast activation and ECM production. TGF-β signals through serine/threonine kinase receptors (TGFBRs) and downstream SMAD proteins. Due to its central role in fibrosis, the TGF-β pathway is a major target for anti-fibrotic therapies.
Inhibition of TGF-β signaling pathway, blocking downstream pro-fibrotic effects.
