Overview

Transmembrane epididymal protein 2, pseudogene (TEDDM2P) is a human pseudogene located in the genome but does not produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes are gene copies that have lost coding ability due to mutations, truncations, or loss of regulatory elements. TEDDM2P may be transcribed at the RNA level, but there is no evidence of protein translation or therapeutic relevance[1][3][4]. Most pseudogenes are lineage-specific and evolve neutrally. While some transcribed pseudogenes can regulate homologous gene expression through RNA-based mechanisms, specific biological or clinical roles for TEDDM2P are not documented in current literature[3]. Summary: TEDDM2P is a nonfunctional pseudogene with no established role in therapy, diagnostics, or disease biology. It should not be considered a target for drug development or clinical biomarkers[1][3][4].

Biological functions

No protein-coding functionMay be transcribed as RNA in some cases, potentially exerting regulatory effects on paralogous genes by RNA interference or transcript modulation, as observed for other transcribed pseudogenes[3]
03

Disease associations

No direct disease associationPseudogenes can sometimes have regulatory roles affecting disease-related genes, but no evidence exists for TEDDM2P in this context[3][4]
