tRNA (guanosine(18)-2'-O)-methyltransferase TARBP1 (TARBP1) is a S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the formation of 2'-O-methylguanosine at position 18 in a subset of tRNA molecules, influencing tRNA structure and function. TARBP1 may also interact with RNA elements involved in HIV-1 gene regulation and has been implicated in cancer progression, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma, by affecting glutamine metabolism. TARBP1 belongs to the methyltransferase family and is broadly related to the regulation of RNA metabolism and posttranscriptional modification.
