Tu translation elongation factor, mitochondrial pseudogene 1 (TUFMP1, also known as TUFML) is classified as a pseudogene—a genomic DNA sequence similar to a gene but non-functional; it does not produce a functional product. It is related in sequence to the mitochondrial Tu translation elongation factor (TUFM), an essential protein in mitochondrial protein synthesis, but TUFMP1 itself does not code for a functional protein and is therefore not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or drug target.
