Target intelligence / Profile preview
The tubulin beta chain is a core component of microtubules, essential for cell shape, intracellular transport, and mitosis. The vinca-binding site on the beta subunit interacts with antimitotic agents like vinca alkaloids, disrupting microtubule dynamics and inhibiting cell division. This is exploited in cancer chemotherapy. The binding site is located at the interface of alpha- and beta-tubulin.
