Overview

Tumor-associated antigens present in GBM6-AD allogeneic lysate are a collection of immunogenic proteins derived from the GBM6-AD glioblastoma cell line, used as a component of polyvalent cancer vaccines such as ERC-1671 (Gliovac) (Bota et al., 2015; Schijns et al., 2015). These antigens encompass a wide range of glioblastoma-specific markers, including those associated with tumor growth, survival, and stemness, which are released upon cell lysis (Schijns et al., 2015). In a therapeutic setting, these allogeneic antigens are intended to stimulate a broad immune response by providing the host's immune system with a diverse array of targets that may overlap with the patient's own tumor profile (NCT01903330). This polyvalent approach is specifically designed to address the significant intratumoral heterogeneity characteristic of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) (Schijns et al., 2015). When administered, these antigens are captured by dendritic cells, processed, and presented to T-cells, leading to the activation of tumor-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocytes and B-cells (Bota et al., 2015). This mechanism aims to bypass the immune evasion strategies of GBM and promote the destruction of residual tumor cells following standard-of-care treatments (Schijns et al., 2015).
