Overview

Tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) in ovarian cancer are molecules overexpressed or uniquely presented on the surface of ovarian tumor cells compared to normal tissues. They serve as biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and targets for immunotherapy. Major TAAs include MUC16 (CA125), FOLR1, EPCAM, MUC1, Her2/neu, WT1, p53, and Mesothelin. TAAs can elicit immune responses and are being explored as targets for CAR-T cell therapies and other immunotherapeutic approaches.

Mechanism of action

Varies depending on the specific TAA. For example, antibodies may block receptor signaling or mediate antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). CAR-T cells kill tumor cells expressing the target antigen.
