Tumor cell lysis, in the context of immunologic cytotoxicity, refers to the destruction of tumor cells by immune effector mechanisms. This process is central to anti-tumor immunity and underpins many cancer immunotherapies. The main immune effectors responsible for tumor cell lysis are cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), natural killer (NK) cells, and antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) involving various leukocytes.
