Tumor-specific neoantigens derived from RNA errors are unique antigenic peptides generated as a result of aberrant RNA processing events in tumor cells. These errors include abnormal splicing, transcriptional mistakes, and other forms of RNA misprocessing that do not necessarily originate from DNA mutations. The resulting peptides are highly tumor-specific because such RNA errors are rare or absent in normal tissues. These neoantigens can be targeted by personalized cancer immunotherapies, including therapeutic vaccination strategies.
Neoantigen-based therapies aim to prime patient T cells against tumor-specific targets via vaccination or adoptive cell transfer, enhancing anti-tumor immunity.
