However, RNU2-32P itself is classified as a **pseudogene**, meaning it likely does **not** have a role as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other therapeutic target, and it does **not** produce a functional U2 snRNA molecule. There is currently no evidence linking RNU2-32P to particular diseases, drug interactions, or use as a biomarker. **Key notes:** - The functional U2 snRNA genes are important in splicing, but pseudogene copies such as RNU2-32P do not contribute to this function[3][2]. - Some U2 snRNA pseudogenes have been annotated due to sequence similarity to active snRNA genes, but most have no known expression or function[3]. - Other pseudogenes labeled similarly (e.g., RNU2-2P, now re-annotated as functional RNU2-2) have been shown, only after detailed analysis, to be functional genes; however, RNU2-32P lacks such evidence[3]. - RNU2-32P is not considered a therapeutic target.
