Overview

RNU6-1130P is a human pseudogene cloned from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family. U6 snRNAs are highly conserved non-coding RNAs essential for the function of the spliceosome, which catalyzes the excision of introns from pre-mRNA in eukaryotes[1][3]. However, the '1130 pseudogene' variant is a nonfunctional, processed pseudogene, meaning it arose via retrotransposition and lacks the ability to produce an active snRNA molecule[2][5]. Unlike canonical U6 snRNA, this pseudogene is not transcribed into a functional RNA and does not participate in RNA splicing, gene regulation, or any other biological mechanism. There is no evidence that RNU6-1130P or similar U6 pseudogenes play any role in disease, signaling, or represent viable drug targets[2]. Pseudogenes like this are numerous in the human genome and primarily serve as evolutionary remnants, occasionally useful for studying retrotransposition dynamics, but not as bona fide molecular targets[2][5].
