Target intelligence / Profile preview
RNU6-198P is a genomic pseudogene resembling the U6 small nuclear RNA, annotated as the 198th variant in humans. Pseudogenes are non-functional DNA sequences that originate from duplicated or mutated active genes; while their sequence resembles functional RNA genes, they do not produce active RNA molecules. The canonical U6 snRNA is an essential non-coding RNA component of the spliceosome, responsible for intron excision during pre-mRNA splicing[1][2]. However, RNU6-198P itself does not encode a functional RNA and has no known biological or disease role[3].
