U6 small nuclear RNA 370, pseudogene (RNU6-370P)

Target
RNU6-370P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA-derived pseudogene
01

Overview

U6 small nuclear RNA 370, pseudogene (RNU6-370P) is a processed, non-functional genomic DNA sequence derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene. U6 snRNA is a highly conserved RNA component of the spliceosome, the cellular machinery responsible for removing introns from precursor mRNA in eukaryotes, but the RNU6-370P locus itself does not encode a functional RNA and does not participate in splicing or other biological processes. Pseudogenes like RNU6-370P do not produce proteins or functional RNA; they arise by retrotransposition or duplication followed by inactivation via mutation. There is no evidence RNU6-370P acts as a drug target or biomarker, nor is it implicated in disease.
