Pseudogenes are nonfunctional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but are generally incapable of encoding functional protein products and do not contribute direct biochemical activity such as catalysis or binding[6]. As a pseudogene, USP17L14P lacks demonstrated biological function, is not regarded as a molecular target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and there are no known drugs, biomarkers, or disease roles directly associated with it.
