Pseudogenes are DNA sequences resembling known genes but generally lack protein-coding capability due to accumulated mutations or deletions. USP9YP5 is related to the authentic gene USP9Y (ubiquitin specific peptidase 9, Y-linked), which encodes a functional deubiquitinase important in male germ cell development and fertility[1][3][7]. In contrast, USP9YP5 does not encode a functional protein, and there is no evidence that it serves as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or interacts with any drugs[5][4]. It is not reported to participate in any biological function or disease association relevant for pharmacological or clinical targeting.
