Vaccinia virus envelope proteins (VACV envelope proteins) (VACV envelope proteins)

Target
VACV envelope proteins
Molecular classification
Viral protein, Envelope protein, Glycoprotein
01

Overview

Vaccinia virus envelope proteins are a complex group of viral components that facilitate the assembly, egress, and host-cell entry of the virus (PubMed: 15140260}

Mechanism of action

Tecovirimat inhibits the p37 envelope protein (encoded by the F13L gene), which is required for the wrapping of intracellular mature virus (IMV) with a Golgi-derived membrane to form the extracellular enveloped virus (EEV), thereby preventing viral egress and spread (PubMed: 30256165).
