WAS protein family homolog 9, pseudogene (WASH9P) is a nonfunctional genomic DNA sequence on chromosome 1, annotated as a pseudogene by multiple genome resources[1][5]. Pseudogenes like WASH9P share sequence similarity to functional genes, in this case likely related to the WAS (Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein) family, but due to mutations or sequence disruptions, they do not code for functional proteins. Pseudogenes do not have direct biological function as encoded proteins and are not considered therapeutic targets[6].
