XKRYP1 (XK related, Y-linked pseudogene 1) is a non-coding, Y-linked human pseudogene related to the XK gene family, which includes the functional XK gene encoding a Kell blood group-linked membrane transporter[1][2][4][5][6]. XKRYP1 is found on the Y chromosome primarily in regions expressed in testis, but it does not encode a functional protein and lacks direct biological or clinical significance as a drug or disease target. It is one of several XK-related pseudogenes, differing from functional XK gene homologs by the presence of disrupting mutations and/or lack of coding capacity[2][3][6].
