Overview

XK related, Y-linked pseudogene 2 (XKRYP2) is a human pseudogene located on the Y chromosome and related to the XK gene, which encodes a membrane transport protein involved in the Kell blood group system. Unlike protein-coding targets, XKRYP2 does not produce a functional protein product and is classified as a pseudogene. There is no direct evidence that XKRYP2 serves as a therapeutic target or has a direct biological function, disease association, or drug interaction. Pseudogenes in general can regulate gene expression at the RNA level, but this has not been demonstrated for XKRYP2 specifically.
